Happy to be at Barnard School

Hello to Barnard School, and to the Community of South Hampton New Hampshire.  On August 10, your School Board accepted the recommendation of the Principal Search Committee and Superintendent Sullivan and appointed me as the new Principal of this fine school.  My name is Ken Darsney, but the students (and many others) call me Mr. "D."  I live in Laconia with my wife, Helen, and am honored to be serving the students, their families, and the staff of an amazing school that I have learned has a rich history and incredible community support.  This is my sixteenth year in the field of education and I have served as Principal in Bristol, Assistant Principal in Northwood, and teacher, coach, and Athletic Coordinator at the Middle Schools in Laconia and Tilton.  Previous to my teaching career I was a manager and consultant in the automotive and marine industry.  I have a BA from Boston College and Masters and CAGS degrees from Plymouth State University.  I enjoy sailing and golf in the warm weather and spend winter weekends as a Technical Delegate in USSA Freestyle Skiing.  Most of all I enjoy spending time with my wife and son, Matthew, who recently moved to Seattle.
As your School Principal I will be responsible for directing the academic and social growth of students in Barnard's Kindergarten through Eighth Grade Classrooms.  I will accomplish this by working closely with our dedicated, skilled, and experienced staff and with the cooperation and hard work of students, their families, and the entire South Hampton Community.  I am looking forward to a great year here, welcome any suggestions, and assure you that my door is always open.
Thank you all for your support and encouragement as we work together to be the best we can be.

Yours truly,
Ken Darsney (Mr. "D")
Barnard School Principal
